Electra Cabs, the pioneer of electric vehicle (EV) taxi market in India, established the country’s largest taxi network that operates fully on electricity, an event which marks the transition to sustainable, eco-friendly technology in transport. The network, which just appeared, is composed of 1,000 electric cabs distributed and operated in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
The firm’s decision to expand its activities is in line with its quest to step up the use of electric vehicles and thereby control the pollution caused by transportation. Each vehicle in the new fleet is equipped with smart technology, e.g., navigation systems and high-energy batteries, in that way, it can promise a much longer range and be even more efficient.
Key Features of the New Network:
Extended Range and Efficiency: They incorporate the newest models of E-Volt series, running as far as 500 km on a single charge, among the taxi types.Smart Charging Stations: A total of 200 fast-charging stations are going to be implemented in the four cities to help the rising number of vehicles.Improved Customer Service: The mobile application, which has not changed its name, now includes a feature that allows the customer and driver to check the location in real-time, see fluctuating prices for route changes, and has a user-friendly display.
Ananya Sharma, CEO of Electra Cabs, showed her favor for the event by saying: “The electric car network is a big step in the right direction towards an environment-friendly urban transportation system. As we have greatly enlarged our fleet and infrastructure, we are enabling electric mobility for millions of people and giving them the access and comfort they need.“India Habitat Centre in Delhi hosted the launch event which was attended by key stakeholders including government officials, industry leaders, and environmental advocates. Sharma said that the new network would have a positive environmental impact and mentioned the fact that it was supposed to reduce carbon emissions by more than 20,000 tons every year.
Besides its flagship scheme, Electra Cabs has also planned to include an eco-friendly car-sharing service which will help to minimize the availability of cars on the roads. Through this action, they bring forward their aim to further cut emissions and decrease traffic congestion in large cities.
